Like many students, you may need additional financing to supplement your savings, grants, and scholarship awards. That’s why most financial aid packages include an offer of aid in the form of federal loans.

Alternative or private loans offer another option to creditworthy borrowers after other sources of aid have been depleted or when federal loan limits have been reached.

Loans must be repaid, with interest, but federal loans are advantageous because they offer low interest rates and more flexible repayment plans than most private loans.

Note: Students must be enrolled at least half-time to be eligible for a direct loan disbursement.
