Veterans Initiatives Office Scholarships

The Veterans Initiatives Office (VIO) at University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) is offering $1,000 scholarships for eligible military-affiliated students currently enrolled as UMGC Asia students.

These scholarships are available to students involved as a mentor in the One2One Mentorship Program, the Vessey Veterans Resource Center’s virtual student union, or the SALUTE Honor Society. We encourage all eligible students to apply.

How to Apply for a VIO Scholarship

Submit a 250-500 word essay to vesseyvrc@umgc.edu answering the following prompt:
What does YOLO (You Only Live Once) mean to you?

Eligibility Requirements

In order to meet the eligibility requirements, students must be of one of the following:

  • A One2One Mentor for at least six consecutive months
  • An active contributor to the Vessey Veterans Resource Center's virtual student union
  • A member of the SALUTE Honor Society

Award Information

The VIO office offers three scholarships in the spring term and three in the fall term. If you need further information, please contact vesseyvrc@umgc.edu
